This manuscript is a typed and edited version of Gorky 1936 (see Gorky 1936 for additional information). It contains significant changes to the first three paragraphs of Gorky 1936. According to the art historian Francis V. O'Connor, it was edited by Emanuel Benson. It is located in the Holger Cahill Papers, Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C. (Reel 5292, Frame 0154-0158). Three further copies, with typographical annotations, are located in the Francis V. O’Connor Papers, Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C. (Box 7, Folder 11).
