Arshile Gorky Catalogue Raisonné
Group exhibition

1945b New York

67 Gallery, New York, A Problem for Critics, May 14–July 7, 1945.

The work that appeared in the exhibition has not been conclusively identified as any of the artworks within the current installment of the catalogue raisonné. According to the Julien Levy Gallery ledger on file in the Julien Levy papers at the Philadelphia Museum of Art Archives, Levy sold "From a hill top" to Howard Putzel, owner of 67 Gallery, in early 1945. The transaction possibly refers to P284, which, furthermore, may have been the artwork by Gorky featured in the exhibition.

Howard Putzel's text for the exhibition is reprinted in Jewell 1945b and Landau 2005.
